It's an ordinary roof...although you notice lots of make-shift repair holes spread about in many different places. It slopes down on both sides as would a normal roof, but not to steep, so that you can sit and look out across the great view of the city and even the ocean.
Raphael says, "Wow, glad it didn't rain, here."
Mikael says, "Indeed."
Mikael says, "It's nice to be up here, but I miss our apartment at Ukyou's."
Raphael says, "Well, I'll see what I can arrange." He taps Mikael's nose. "Besides, I thought you had a thing about sleeping on rooftops."
Mikael blushes and turns his head away.
Raphael continues relentlessly, "What with that church roof you slept on for MONTHS before I showed up on earth..."
Mikael protests, "REaphael-sama!"
Raphael says, "And THAT's what I like to hear."
Mikael stares at him, wrinkling his nose, still blushing slightly.
Raphael asks, "What?"
Mikael says, "You MADE me sell sweet potatoes to finance our apartment. I'm not sure I've forgiven you for that."
Raphael asks, "But Mikael. You made so much money for such little work. Aren't you proud?"
Mikael sinks his face into his hands. "The smell stayed in my clothes for WEEKS. But yes, we did make a lot of money."
Raphael says, "See? Responsible Mikael."
Mikael asks, "Aren't I always?"
Raphael eyes him.
Raphael continues eyeing him, hmming thoughtfully.
Mikael amends hastily, "Don't answer that."
Raphael says, "Your wish is my command, sweetheart."
Mikael continues, his tone earnest, "I'm trying really hard, though. To be a good teacher, I mean."
Raphael says, "You are an EXCELLENT teacher, darling. You know your subject and your students love you. And that's what it takes."
Mikael worries at his bottom lip with his teeth. "But all the other teachers have a lot more experience than I do. I can't have that, no matter what, so I have to try a little harder so I can be good."
Raphael says, "Ah, but you've got the charisma and you like what you do. All you really need, more than experience, is confidence."
Mikael blushes and looks down at his feet. "Thank you, Raphael-sama. It means a lot to me, truly."
Raphael snuggles. "Let's head down into the restaraunt, see if anyone's around or's going to show up, hmm? I think I have imprints on me from the shingles."
Mikael says, "Alright."
Mikael and Raphael open the hatch and climbs back down into the UR.
You walk into a well lighted room, it's high ceilings lit by dozens of fluorescent lamps hanging from the ceiling. To the south and west are windows, which you would normally expect to see the outside world from, but looking out of them, you see only a misty gray haze. On the walls to the north and the east of the inn are an eclectic collection of paintings, photographs and even holographs of many cheap 1970's to 1980's B-movies. The bar on the east side is made out of hardwood, it's surface polished and shiny. Behind the bar, the various beverages that are served here are kept in relatively neat containers on wooden shelves. There is a large stage in one of the corners of the restaurant with a impressive sound system and a few microphones strung about it. Multiple round wood tables are in this room, near the north wall, is a double swing door that leads to the kitchen. On the east wall is a door leading to the UR's dance club and on the west one leading to the Gym. To the south, is the exit to the outside.
Raphael smiles a little guiltily at Sabin. "Hey there."
Sabin idly looks up from behind the bar, and nods to the two new arrivals.
Mikael waves to Sabin.
Raphael sits at the bar. "How's business?"
Sabin says, "Pretty good, I suppose."
Mikael sits down next to Raphael and smiles.
Raphael asks, "Mmm. Any recommendations on dinner?"
Sabin says, "Well, I've always been fond of th'whole chicken dinners, but that's just me"
Raphael whispers, "Taste of human?" to Mikael.
Mikael whispers, "You're twisted." to Raphael.
Raphael says, "Wonderful, I'll have one then. Mikael?"
Mikael nods. "Sounds good to me."
Sabin nods, and heads towards the kitchen. "Be right out with 'em."
Raphael calls, "Thanks!"
Mikael says, "It's certainly quiet here tonight."
Sabin walks into the kitchen, pushing through the swinging doorway.
Raphael says, "I doubt it'll be quiet for long." He looks thoughtful. "HAVE you been worrying about being a teacher, Mikael?"
Mikael raises an eyebrow. "I personally am hoping for no invading aliens." Mikael considers it. "A bit, I suppose. My students always seem comatose."
Raphael says, "Well, you teach in the mornings, Kael. Of course they're comatose."
Mikael twists his hands in his lap. "And I'm no Suriel. Everyone loves him."
Sabin returns, carrying two plates with a whole chicken roasted to perfection on each plate. He sets them down in front of the two customers.
Raphael says, "Thank you! Looks wonderful."
Sabin nods, and returns behind the bar.
Mikael exclaims, "Thank you!"
Raphael says, "Well, hun, Suriel's been teaching for centuries, and he's a sweetheart. Give yourself a few centuries and they'll remember to drink coffee before class and then you'll KNOW your students love you."
Mikael starts in on his dinner. "Don't get me wrong, I really do love it. Teaching is the best thing I can think of."
Raphael also starts in on his dinner, talking with his mouth full. "I know you love it. You wouldn't do it if you didn't love it. You're just being you."
Mikael raises an eyebrow. "I hope that was a compliment."
Raphael says, around a mouthful of chicken. "Of course, Mikael. What else could it be?" he adds quickly, "Is it white with chicken and red with beef, or...?"
Mikael mumurs, "I THINK that's right."
Raphael asks Sabin, "What are your whites?"
Sabin slides a list of the wines over to the angel "Well, here ya go, I'm not too good with knowing my wines"
Raphael says, "Thanks. Looks good." He passes the list to Mikael. "You think?"
Mikael browses the list idly. "I don't really know, honestly. Pick something?"
Raphael also browses. "Heheheh," he says vaguely. "They said 'French'."
Mikael hmms thoughtfully. "Suriel keeps having me try sweeter ones. He says the dry ones aren't so good for someone new to wine."
Raphael says, "Well, I have no idea what's good in NT, so let's just go with the house white, shall we?"
NikoBlue materializes in the room in a flash of white light.
NikoBlue
This is NikoBlue. She is a very beautiful girl of 18, she stands 5'7'', and weighs 130 lbs. Today she is wearing black pants and a longsleeve black shirt. On her feet she is wearing a pair of high heeled black boots that elevate her height, just slightly. Her soft black hair hangs down to the middle of her back. Her piercing blue eyes look towards you as you gaze upon her. She gives you a wink and a sly, sexy smile, letting you know that she is looking at you as well. Beware your naughty thoughts, for Niko is quite psychic. ^_^
NikoBlue smiles and walks in, sitting at the bar.
Mikael waves hello.
Raphael says to Sabin, "The house white okay, man?"
NikoBlue winks and waves hello to Mikael.
Raphael also waves to NikoBlue.
NikoBlue waves to Raphael as well.
Raphael goes back to his dinner, eating with obvious signs of enjoyment. "Anyway, Mikael, any particular worry with your classes? Students giving you trouble?"
Sabin nods "Sure thing, pal." He takes a wine bottle from behind the bar, and two wine glasses. He pours the wine into each glass, and sets it down in front of each holy servant.
NikoBlue looks to Sabin, "Water with lemon please."
Mikael fiddles with his wine glass. "No, of course not." He goes back to his dinner.
Raphael says, "Thanks!" to Sabin, then eyes Mikael carefully. "You're hiding something."
Mikael smiles brightly. "No, I'm not. The wine is good, isn't it?"
Raphael says, "You're not good at sneaky, Mikael."
Mikael sighs. "It's just something Cherior said to me. You know him, always running off at the mouth. Just like a younger Azrael."
Raphael asks, "More bluster and less bite, but what did the little bastard say that got you all knotted up?"
Mikael looks at his plate determinedly.
Sabin takes a glass from behind the bar, and fills it with ice water. He drops a lemon slice into the glass, and slides it over to Niko.
Raphael says, "Mikael." And just that.
Mikael telepaths, "He intimated that other teachers had said there was only one reason I got this job, and it wasn't on my ability." to Raphael.
Raphael glances at Mikael suddenly, eyes wide, and frowns.
NikoBlue winks "Thanks much!"
Raphael telepaths, "Well, everyone knows how the little prick gets his jollies, and I know none of the teachers are talking about it like that at ALL. Except Uriel, and HE's just teasing." to Mikael.
Raphael says aloud, "And he said that to your face?"
Mikael says, by way of excuse, "I gave him detention. He was really angry with me."
NikoBlue sips her water and eavesdrops a bit, physically and psychically.
Raphael says, "He deserves detention run by Azrael for a month. But that is beside the point. You know it's not true, right?"
Mikael says quietly, "I know. But it scared me."
Raphael telepaths, "Everyone knows the fact that you're the Professor's lover is an asset, not an excuse." to Mikael and, unintentionally, NikoBlue.
Mikael reaches for Raphael's hand.
Raphael grasps Mikael's hand, smiling, and adds "And if any teacher does say that, I'll kick their asses for you. Eat your dinner, it's getting cold."
Mikael eyes widen. "Hai, Raphael-sama."
Mikael clears his throat. "Sabin, I don't mean to be a bother, but is there any chance that I could get some tea?"
Raphael asks, "Feeling the wine, Kael?"
Sabin nods to Mikael "Sure thing. What kind?"
Mikael says, "Green, if you have it."
NikoBlue mumbles, "You know ..... not a good ..... to ..... ..... love with your ..... .. .. .. .." to Mikael.
Mikael frowns at Raphael. "No, I just like tea."
Sabin says, "the usual has everything." He takes out a kettle, that has a built-in strainer. He puts the ingredients for green tea into the strainer, and flows hot water into the kettle, making it pass through the strainer, thus making the tea. He pours the contents of the kettle into a bamboo-style cup, and sets it down in front of Mikael.
Raphael says, "Sure, dear." He pats Mikael on the head condescendingly. "Um, I think she's trying to say something to you," he adds, gesturing to NikoBlue.
NikoBlue winks at Mikael.
Mikael thanks Sabin, and frowns slightly at NikoBlue "He's not my professor. Well, not anymore."
Raphael says, "I'm THE Professor. Of the school. It's a title, of sorts." He thinks, then adds, "I'm not sure why. I'm pretty much below administration but ahead of everyone else."
NikoBlue looks between the two. "Uhhh....are you two...."
Raphael waits, looking interested.
Mikael turns to look at her, equally interested.
NikoBlue clears her throat and says softly, "Together...."
Raphael keeps smiling interestedly, and it's clear that there's not going to be any response from that quarter until she clarifies herself.
NikoBlue doesn't think they get it. "As in...lovers..."
Raphael says, "Yep."
Mikael pinkens. "erm...yes."
Raphael ruffles Mikaels hair. "Aw, blushes."
NikoBlue smiles, "Aww."
NikoBlue puts her arms around the pair, "You two are so cute!"
Raphael says, "He's going to wail with embarrassment in a moment. Wait for it."
Mikael protests, "Raphael-sama!"
Raphael says, "Told you."
NikoBlue hugs the two. "Sabin! A round of sake on me!"
Raphael exclaims, "You mean I get free booze for dating Mikael? Sweet!"
Mikael says, "Ano...that's very kind of you, NikoBlue, but I'm not sure that I should..."
Sabin nods to Niko. He takes out a bottle of sake, and pours it into smaller sake bottles, with mini sake cups, which he sets out to each customer.
Raphael says, ""he's a cheap drunk." And smiles."
Mikael blushes a deep pink.
Raphael asks, ""How much is dinner, Sabin?
NikoBlue takes her seat.
Raphael says, "Thanks for the drinks... What can I call you?" he's looking at NikoBlue.
Sabin puts the money into the register as he pockets the tip. He then slides the bill for Raphael and Mikael's meal over to the more outgoing of the angels.
NikoBlue smiles, "My name is NikoBlue, you can call me Niko though."
Mikael nods politely. "It's nice to meet you, Niko. Thank you for the drinks."
NikoBlue smiles, "No problem at all."
Raphael digs some money out of his pocket, puts it carefully down on the bill, and slides the bill back.
Mikael mutters something underneath his breath that sounds suspciously like "First time for everything."
Raphael glares at Mikael out of the corner of his eye. "Hey, I pay for dinner sometimes."
Mikael grins. "Just teasing, Raphael-sama." He eyes the sake suspiciously.
Sabin picks up the bill, and puts the money into the register.
Raphael says, "Drink it, Mikael, it's good for you. They make it with rice." Raphael is, yes, speaking down.
Mikael takes a delicate sip. "Are you SURE, Raphael-sama?"
NikoBlue hops down off the barstool, "Well, it was nice meeting you two, but I must get going."
Mikael waves. "Bye!"
NikoBlue walks out to the street.
Raphael says, "Yes, yes, they make it with rice. Well, mainly rice."
Mikael narrows his eyes. "I think you're trying to get me plastered."
Raphael says, "Don't tell me you lived as a freshman in Japan for, what, a year? and didn't drink sake."
Mikael looks slightly miffed.
Raphael blinks at Mikael. "You didn't, did you. Where WERE you?"
Mikael retorts hotly, "I was STUDYING. And I was poor, else I wouldn't have been living on a church roof."
Raphael says, "All you needed was a good job pushing a food cart, Mikael! Don't say I never taught you anything."
Mikael raises and eyebrow and smiles slightly.
Raphael smiles back and drinks his sake.
Mikael telepaths, "You must be pretty good to keep up with Azrael. Not that you weren't in a sorry state after the last bender." to Raphael.
Raphael blinks at Mikael. "Hey, that was NOT my fault."
Mikael laughs lightly. "I fail to see who else's fault it could be. Though you were kind of cute in a pathetic way."
Raphael says, "Hey. HEY. We'd been drinking straight booze for seventeen hours straight. You can't manage seventeen minutes."
Mikael asks, "What does that have to do with me?" Mikael pushes away his sake and goes back to his tea.
Raphael says, "I'm not a drunk," huffily, then downs Mikael's sake.
Mikael says, "Besides, I took good care of you." He grabs Raphael's hand. "And no, you're NOT a drunk. Neither is Azrael, for that matter."
Raphael squeezes Mikael's hand, then offers a sudden tentative grin. "Though you have to admit he's mildly lush."
Mikael smiles primly. "Not within his hearing range, thank you."
Raphael winces. "I can sympathise with that."
Kawatta materializes in the room in a flash of white light.
Raphael waves at Kawatta with his free hand.
Mikael telepaths, "I didn't mean to make you feel bad. You know I love you." to Raphael.
Mikael waves at Kawatta and calls, "Hello!"
Kawatta waves "hey...I havn't seen you two around for a while."
Raphael rolls his eyes. "Don't ASK."
Mikael offers, "Scheduling difficulties."
Raphael telepaths, "I know. You have trouble with Cherior, I have trouble with the fame of my little binges with Azrael's. No biggie." to Mikael.
Mikael squeezes Raphael's hand.
Mikael telepaths, "Let me make it up to you later?" to Raphael.
Raphael sputters. "Difficulties?! those weren't difficulties! They might have put up a 'sorry for your inconvenience' sign in my office!"
Raphael telepaths, "I'll take you up on that." to Mikael.
Mikael shrugs gracefully. "It was nicer than saying meltdown."
Kawatta says, "I...think I can relate...sort of" he blinks at the meltdown part "..or not"
Raphael asks, "What's been happening with you, then?"
Kawatta says, "uhh..I have a daughter, a I own a megacorporation and I'm the planet's last line of defense...life as usual for that last part."
Mikael nods, looking a little wide-eyed.
Raphael says, "I thought the war with the aliens was over, man."
Kawatta says, "I'm always on the defense line, its my job" x.x
Raphael says, "That's gotta suck"
Mikael elbows Raphael. "It sounds very important. I'm sure you're the best man for the job."
Raphael says, "Oh. Yes. Right. Tough luck but somebody's got to do it."
Kawatta asks, "only if Heaven has started making space ships..." wait...didnt they actually do that in one Anime?
Mikael looks at Raphael, confused.
Raphael says, "I think we're all talking about different things. Restarting conversation here... You're the last line of defense for the planet? That's awful, I think you're terribly brave."
Mikael mutters, "Much better," to Raphael.
Raphael asks, "More tea, Mikael? Can I get you anything, Kawatta?"
Mikael says, "No thank you, Raphael-sama. Actually, truth be told, I'm feeling a little sleepy."
Kawatta says, "I do what I have too, and just something to cold to drink would be fine.."
Raphael asks, "like, what kind of cold? Chilled booze cold or lemonaide cold or...?And I know what you mean. I avoided the army myself, but I do what I can."
Kawatta says, "no alcohol..."
Raphael asks, "Sabin, could I buy some lemonaide for Kawatta?"
Sabin nods. He takes out a glass, and fills it with ice-cold lemonade before sliding it over to the mech pilot "THere ya go"
Raphael says, "Which reminds me. Mikael, after the gates back through NT get fixed, where do you think we should go for our NEXT vacation? We agreed vienna was out..."
Mikael says, "We did? I don't remember that. We just agreed that I don't like raw clams."
Kawatta says, "my next Vacation...if I ever get one is going straight out to Salusia..."
Raphael asks, "Where's Salusia, then?"
Kawatta says, "another planet, about 12 and a half light years away..."
Mikael blinks and turns to Raphael. "We're confined to Earth for vacation, aren't we?"
Raphael says, "I think that's in the rules. I could write in an exception if you want, but there's so many places I haven't been just on Earth. Like France. I have never seen France." He grins at Kawatta. "I write the rulebook. It's great."
Mikael toys with his teacup. "What about Spain? I hear Sevilla is really wonderful." He adds, "I think France or Spain would be nice - lots of museums and cities to explore."
Kawatta says, "I write a couple as well, but I dont think I have /that/ much control"
Raphael says, "well, I gotta get it cleared, but I irritate the Administrator until he says 'Yeah, whatever, just get out of my office'. And then I write the new rule. It's a good arrangement." He turns back to Mikael. "Museums, huh? How about touristy things like monuments?"
Mikael asks, "That sounds good, too. I want to see CULTURE, Raphael-sama. All I know is Japan, and there's a lot more out there, you know?"
Raphael says, "I hear the tower in France is bigger than the one in Japan." He keeps a straight face. "But we could do museums too."
Mikael smiles happily. "It'll be wonderful," he says dreamily.
Mikael telepaths, "Hentai yarou." to Raphael.
Raphael telepaths, "you know it." to Mikael.
Raphael says, "So, they've got giant phallic structures, museums and art galleries, and it'll make Gabriel rip his hair out for the staff budget. I think France is a definate option here."
Mikael giggles.
( Mikael's cell phone rings )
Mikael turns it on. He stares at it for one minute, then hands it to Raphael. "I'm not here!" he hisses.
Raphael says, "Yeah, hi?" He holds it from his ear as a blister of curses can be heard by everyone in the room.
Mikael walks into the kitchen, pushing through the swinging doorway.
Raphael is wincing at the phone. "No, I didn't. No, I haven't seen him. Well, can't you fill out the paperwork?"
Kawatta whistles lowly "...thats an angry boss isnt it?"
Raphael gestures a 'shhhh' noise.
Kawatta keeps quiet.
Raphael asks, "Yes, yes, I hear you. Hiding something? Azzzzz, would I do that too youuuuuuuuuuuuu?"
Raphael holds the phone out from his ear again as curses fill the area again. Suddenly, eyes closed and clearly dreading response, he clicks the phone off.
Raphael looks at the phone. "I hung up on him," he murmurs.
Raphael smiles in a sickly fashion. "Sabin, I'm going to your roof, okay?"
Raphael says, "I hung up on him."
Mikael smiles. "Oh dear. I wonder what that was about."
Raphael says, "Apparently you left some paperwork undone, Gabriel asked Suriel to do it, but Suriel was in his studio."
Mikael looks mortified. "I did? I was almost sure I finished everything!"
Raphael says, "It probably bred. Paperwork does that, you know."
Mikael looks worried. "Oh dear."
Raphael says, "It's all right. Suri'll get him cooled down once he finishes painting, and I hung up and turned your phone off. And my phone." He gives Mikael his phone back.
Mikael bites his lower lip. "Does Azrael hohold grudges?" then blinks and asks, "You turned them BOTH off?"
Raphael says, "Not if the work's done by the time we're back. And yeah. Just for a day or so."
Mikael fumbles with his phone. "You're sure?"
Raphael says, "We'll be fine. Even if there were major emergencies, it's not like we can get back there for now. Don't worry about it."
Mikael looks unconvinced for a moment, but slides the cell phone back in his pocket. "France does sound nice."
Raphael kisses Mikael gently. "Everything'll be fine."
Mikael kisses him back. "Alright."
Raphael lays back, pulls Mikael back so they're both pillowed on Raphael's wing. "I think what you need is rest. And everything'll be fine tomorrow, just you wait."
Mikael says, "As long as I'm with you, I know it will be."
Raphael closes Mikael's eyes with a soft brush of his hand. "rest, darling."
Mikael falls asleep.
