Afriel, Cherior, and Devecia

Hoyden: Urgh. I wrote more of the story last night. But it was still post my cat, and I fear that Raphael came out wonky and sounding more like Gabriel than himself.
Harukami: I saw. You sent it to me.
Hoyden: Sounding more like me, actually.
Harukami: I haven't commented yet... it's... wonderful. You've got a lot of subtle nuances there. I love it. I want more.
Harukami:By the way, you've gotten to Cherior and Devecia before I can get to Cherior and Afrael. Oh well. ^^
Hoyden: What? Wanna explain that, missy? :-)
Hoyden: Who's this Afrael?
Harukami: Remember the gal who was picking on Suriel?
Hoyden: Yeoch. I confess I don't like her, Haru. You did too good a job.
Harukami: She's got her reasons, I just haven't typed that part up from my handwritten copy.
Harukami: She's also a Special Case.
Hoyden: Really? I'm intrigued. Well, I'm perfectly willing to make an Asapin out of him.
Harukami: Yikes. So, wanna hear my plot summary?!
Hoyden: Please do. It's helpful when we're writing at the same time.
Hoyden: So we don't contradict each other. I strive for continuity.
Harukami: Figured. Okay, what I have so far. Then... Raphael explains the file HE'S read on Afrael. That she had a little brother who died in an accident on the beach... and she turned, running back to him, and saw Suriel take his soul. Not too much later, she's picked as a Candidate and agrees to go to the School. She is perfectly open about blaming Suriel for her kid bro's death, and so it's in the file. ...
Hoyden: *winces*
Harukami: ...Insert random Azrael/Suriel lemon...
Hoyden: *cheers!*
Harukami: ...cheered up, Az remembers something he and Suri have talked about, and he goes to Mikael to ask (read: coerce) the Kid into learning some kind of self-defence. Not too much later, while flat on his back with the air knocked out of him, Mikael looks up to see Afrael in the windows above the barrak arena. Now, he wouldn't recognize her... except she's one of his students and an absolute darling while in his class.
Hoyden: Okay...(imagines Mikael learning aikido)
Harukami: Meanwhile... Gabriel is making Suriel do a seminar on his Duty to the first year students. Suriel doesn't want to, but Gabriel's firm that it's necessary that some of the students take this seminar. He puts Afrael down on the list of students to take the seminar.
Hoyden: Sneaky Gabby.
Harukami: Grumpy, too.
Hoyden: Always. He's my favorite son of a bitch.
Hoyden: Except Az, but you know.
Harukami: Anyhow, it's Mikael's class she'd be missing to take the seminar, and so Mikael has a list of those who should be attending. When he double checks who'd be taking it, she doesn't put her hand up, so he calls her aside after class to try to explain that if you're put on a list by Gabriel, you'd better go. Raphael watches from the doorway and realizes, after Afrael's left, that Afrael has a bit of a crush on our favourite new teacher.
Hoyden: And how does our darling boy react?
Hoyden: Raphael, not Mikael.
Harukami: Raphael is amused and a little disturbed by the politics. Mikael is in panicky denial that one of his students -- ANY of his students -- could have a crush on him.
Harukami: Because she can't see a way out of the seminar, she starts acting out more and more. Now's where I feel I should change my plot, 'cause I wanted to bring Cherior in as a co-conspiritor/moderator for her.
Hoyden: Hmm. Go on.
Hoyden: I was just in a sort of Vanyel/'Lendel mood after having read nonstop from 8 am to 3 am. I can do something else with Devecia.
Harukami: Not sure. Actually, that's as far as I've written. I have ideas, but nothing REALLY solid. I know she gets SO bad that Mikael takes her to talk to the Metatron. That's where I'm stuck. Cherior/Afrael was only an idea, so I don't mind dropping it. I don't mind at all.
Hoyden: He would take her to Gabriel, I think. Gabriel is the Administator of Heaven - Metatron is the Voice. Gabby would be more concerned with day to day affairs.
Hoyden: And even then, chain of command says Raphael is first.
Harukami: Yeah. But Gabriel's very busy and the problem is that he talks to Raphael by himself, and Raphael privately mentions an extra detail on the folder that he didn't want to mention in front of Suriel...
Hoyden: If she's that much of a problem, I suppose she could warrant a meeting with the Voice. I'm hesistant to use Metatron like that, though. He's next in my story. He is their connection with Most Holy, and in my mind, there really should be some aspect of awe attached tot he office.
Hoyden: Maybe that will be enough to do what you need with her.
Harukami: ...that the Metatron had a notice that Afrael had the potential, given development, to become a much needed other Angel of Death (there are many in mythology of course, but Suriel and Azrael are the top). Of course, that also was JUSt an idea.
Hoyden: *blinks* Wow. Talk about deep-seated issues and not wanting to face reality. I dont' think Afrael
Hoyden: is going to handle that well.
Hoyden: I accidentally hit enter. sorry
Harukami: Which is one of the reasons I wanted to work it in and another reason I thought, hearing that, Mikael would take her to the Metatron. But if you think it's appropriate, he might take her to Gabriel instead.
Hoyden: I vote for Gabby. He's underused.
Harukami: Okay, Gabby it is.
Hoyden: I like the idea of Gabby being able to determine...talent, for lack of a better word.
Hoyden: It gives him a special purpose, other than paperwork.
Harukami: Good. ^^ Of course, she doesn't believe a word of it, and during Suriel's seminar, she keeps asking... questions.
Harukami: Nasty questions.
Harukami: I think Cherior'd make a good sibling-figure to her. Better 'n a lover-figure. I mean, by the end of the fic, she's going to lighten up on Suriel, obviously, but she and Cherior can still team-tag Az and Suri when they're bored.
Hoyden: *grins* Az will give them merry hell.
Harukami: EXactly. ^___^ I need to get her to know Cherior soon, though. But I suppose since she's in the same class as he is, she already knows him a little.
Hoyden: I think you're right. So a sibling relationship?
Harukami: I think so. They'd be so EVIL as a team...
Harukami: I can see it now.
Suriel: *listening to the noise level as it jumps suddenly in the hallway outside* I think they're coming. And they've got a new sound system.
Azrael: Where did we put those storm windows?
Hoyden: I entertain hopes that they might eventually be a good influence on each other.
Harukami: Fft.
Hoyden: *grins* I'm protective.
Harukami: Yeah. As I say, the things she learns in Suriel's seminar and some of Cherior's comments in response to her questions along with something I haven't worked out yet makes her realize that yeah, sometimes these things have to happen. Her attitude towards Suriel will always be GRUDGING, but...
Harukami: Oh, and by the way? I know how to oil paint if you need to ask question.
Harukami: questions, even.
Harukami: I sounded like a bad dub...
Hoyden: Yeah. I realized in the beginning that Suriel just covers his painting and I thought, wait, oil paint must take a long time to dry.
Harukami: Oh hell. Yeah. Days. If you want it to dry more quickly, have him using acrylics.
Hoyden: Okay. Acrylics could work. I'm not picky.
Harukami: And they look just as nice as oils, really. And they're less toxic.
Harukami: Do you need to know anything in particular about oil/acrylic painting?
Hoyden: Metatron is up next. I know what I want to do with him. I'm trying to decide on who's next after that...Az, of course, will be at the end. And somehow I don't know if Suriel will ever quite be able to finish.
Harukami: And d'ya think my plot's an okay idea? I thought we needed a few more girls too. And heh. You know whatever image he does of Az'll be lust-clouded.
Hoyden: I really like your plot. Your plots always seem really good. With a moral of the story too.
Harukami: And the moral is: be a bitch. You'll have some important realization when you push the Angel of Death too far.
Hoyden: Wheras I just aim for kissing.
Hoyden: ;-)
Harukami: There's kissing too. And wing-stroking. And thigh-grinding. And chest-groping.
Hoyden: Gyaah! That's an UGLY face.
Hoyden: Wing-stroking is nice.
Harukami: I like wingstroking. Apparently, so does Suriel.
Hoyden: Really? Do you have more for me to read?
Harukami: Not typed up.
Hoyden: Damn.
Harukami: Sorry. Just in my little journal.
Hoyden: Mitaiiiiiii.
Harukami: *smacks Hoyden with journal lightly* I see you shiver with antici..............
Harukami: ...pation.
Hoyden: *does the lip pursing thing*
Harukami: Nooo! Not the thing with the lip! Okay, how's this. I'll glance through it and send you nice quotes.
Hoyden: I love you.
Hoyden: *glomps her unashamedly*
Harukami: Was that enough of a teaser, then?
Hoyden: *grins* You're the best, what can I say?
Harukami: Now. Tell me about Cherior and his boy-love.
Hoyden: Cherior is a typical, stupid teenage boy, who tends to express his interest by annoying/deliberately hurting the object of his affections. Dev deals with it as best as possible, not realizing Cherior's true intent until one day when Cherior lets something slip and Dev points out a few very hard truths, which make Cherior furious. Furious enough to pummel Dev, who doesn't fight back. Then the whole thing is dumped in Raphael's lap.
Harukami: "hard" truths? Any more details than that?
Hoyden: No, because I just thought of it a half hour ago.
Hoyden: i.e., it's not written.
Harukami: ...oh. What kind of hard truths, then? What does he let slip? Any ideas?
Hoyden: Umm...
Harukami: Is that a no?
Hoyden: Maybe Cherior refers mockingly to Dev as a pretty boy and bullies him about his looks and what everyone must think about him, and Dev point out that it's not everyone else who thinks these things, it's Cherior.
Harukami: And Cherior just rips a strip off of him? Dev must be some kind of masochist.
Hoyden: Maybe. Or maybe Cherior just doesn't beat him up that badly. A few well-placed punches and then he walks off.
Harukami: You had RAPHAEL say that Cherior laid into him.
Hoyden: I know. Which gives Raphael a reason to be really upset.
Hoyden: Somehow I don't think Raphael would care about a little scuffle, but this...yes.
Harukami: Exactly. I think Dev has to get more detailed as Cherior denies it. You know. "Do you like me, Cherior? IS that why you act like you hate me so much?
Hoyden: I think Cherior must catch Dev by surprise with the first blow and just totally looses control. And yes, I think that Dev really has to question the living hell out of him to work Cherior into that state.
Harukami: That'll be one of the harder parts. That and NOT getting Cherior expelled. So... after his anger fades, how is Cherior behaving? Does he confide in anyone? What does he do?
Hoyden: Either Raphael or Azrael.
Harukami: Considering it's Cherior, which do you think's more likely?
Hoyden: So Azrael pays a visit and tells him he knows what Cherior's done. Cherior panicks, because he knows what the punishment, and the story grudgingly comes out, though a bit modified to make Cherior look better. Az tells him he WON'T tell Gabriel and Raphael provided he apologizes to Dev and makes ammends.
Harukami: Okay. Are you SURE? Only, I can see Cherior feeling guilty afterwards and not LIKING to feel guilty. And, like, Az is very similar to him in personality and is dating a guy, and I think that Cherior might do one of the "Okay, there's this guy I know, and he just beat up someone who..." stories. Of course, that's only MY opinion.
Hoyden: I like it. And of course Azrael knows EXACTLY who Cherior is talking about.
Harukami: He IS one of the higher teaching staff, of course. But Cherior doesn't know that Azrael knows.
Hoyden: Of course not.
Harukami: And poor Azrael's walking delicate ground between completely pissing Cherior off and getting him to click in that, yeah, he reacted like that, he's got a Thing for Dev. And how's Dev feeling through all of this.
Hoyden: Other than, "Ow."
Harukami: Yeah. OTHER than "Ow."
Hoyden: I don't know. I'd have some serious second thoughts about a guy who pummeled me.
Harukami: How did he feel about Cherior in the first place? Like, what IS Dev's personality?
Hoyden: Erm. Dev. Erm.
Harukami: Erm?
Hoyden: Okay. Alright. For starters, let's say he sees some worth in Cherior. You'd have to get past our favorite redhead's bullshit, so Dev must be thoughtful and patient.
Harukami: Mmm hmm.
Harukami: He also HAS to be strong enough to stand up to Cherior if he'd have the guts to SAY such things to a violent psychopath.
Hoyden: Exactly. He must initally put up with Cherior's bullying because he thinks the best thing to do is to not let it get to him.
Harukami: Or perhaps he's a bit of a tease in his own right and sees RIGHT through the tough-guy facade. Maybe a reason Cherior gets pissed off with him a lot is also because of the amused grin he sees a lot of the time that Cherior's insulting him?
Hoyden: That feels better. I think Dev must be a pretty self-assured kind of guy.
Harukami: Mmm. Or Raphael wouldn't have this doubt about expelling Cherior at all, because he'd think that Cherior'd bullied Dev into not saying anything.
Hoyden: Wheras if he KNOWS that if Dev's not saying anything, it's his choice.
Harukami: Exactly.
Hoyden: I love you. Where would I be without you to toss ideas at?
Harukami: Um... stumbling through a fog? ^_~
Hoyden: Thanks, darling. Glad to hear the truth. ^^
Harukami: ^^
Harukami: So, is Cherior just in the first uncomfortable bloom of lust or is it love?
Hoyden: A bit of both?
Harukami: Aa, there must be some who remember/their own days of youth.
Hoyden: Okay, lust.
Hoyden: Truth sucks.
Harukami: No, no, I was sympathizing with poor Cherior. I know the feeling and had a little Serge (from Kaze to Ki) moment.
Harukami: But even if it was just lust, that can change with time.
Hoyden: Oh. i thought you were poking fun at me.
Harukami: Nope. Part of the Gilbert Cocteau poem Serge narrates.
Hoyden: Oh. Gotcha.
Harukami: *sighs* Poor Cherior the Confused...
Harukami: And Dev the Decimated.
Hoyden: *laughs* Cherior will make it up to him.
Hoyden: Because I said so.
Harukami: He'd BETTER. *firmly* Heh. Poor CHerior. Figures out that he can like boys, too, and probably gets obsessed with the concept. I can just see Azrael finding him hiding in his and Suri's room...
Hoyden: Oh dear god.
Harukami: Of course, Az would kick Cherry's head in.
Hoyden: Cherry?!!! *sputters with laughter*
Harukami: *grins herself* Oh, I am SO dead.
Harukami: And Az WOULD kick his head in. "What were you doing?!"
"...hiding."
"Oh?"
"I'll go now."
BAM!
Hoyden: Cherry sounds like an uke nickname.
Harukami: *grins* I know. And Cherry's SUCH a seme. :p And yet, having said it once, I just can't seem to stop...
Harukami: Heh. I bet Dev would regret calling Cherior Cherry too.
Hoyden: It would lead to some fun wrestling.
Harukami: mmmMMMMmmMM.
